8-year-old boy lost to freak accident while playing basketball at home

In the expanses of Corbin, Kentucky a boy named Eli Hill, who was just 8 years old embarked on what seemed like a harmless adventure, with a basketball in his hand. However fate took a turn as this innocent game turned into an incident extinguishing the vibrant spirit of this young boy.

According to law enforcement accounts shared through WKYT the sequence of events is truly heart wrenching. Elis quest for elevation led him to retrieve an object to aid his pursuit of performing a dunk. Though the backboard transformed from being a source of amusement to becoming a bearer of disaster. The collision between Eli and the backboard was an encounter an embrace filled with malevolence that forcefully struck his chest and tragically ended his life due to blunt force trauma.

Within the tapestry of their lives the Hill family cherished their son as a gem whose every facet shone brightly. Their story is one that embodies kindness and an immense love, for sports—a narrative deeply ingrained in Elis existence.

In the words expressed by Ashley Hill, Elis mother; “Though he only graced our lives for eight years during that fleeting time his light burned brilliantly.”

She continued to express “We feel a sense of pride a pride that stems from the lasting legacy he has left us.”

The family made a decision to donate his organs so that now someone else can have Eli’s heart of gold.

“As many knew Eli Hill you know how much joy one kid can bring into your life but also anywhere he is. For the kid who loved baseball more then anyone on this planet you could quickly see one person who was so special to the sport.”

The family also issued a warning through the police department for people not to donate money to the GoFundMe page set up in their name because it wasn’t them who set it.

The Better Business Bureau warns about suspicious crowdfunding and says to always double-check before you donate.
