Ingredients:

For the Crust:

For the Custard Filling:

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions:

  1. Prepare Crust:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • In a medium bowl, combine the flour, melted butter, granulated sugar, and salt. Mix until well combined.
    • Press the mixture into the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
  2. Prepare Custard Filling:
    • In a large bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and flour.
    • Add the eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition.
    • Gradually whisk in the heavy cream, whole milk, and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  3. Assemble and Bake:
    • Pour the custard filling over the pre-baked crust.
    • Return the baking dish to the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the custard is set and lightly golden on top.
  4. Cool and Serve:
    • Remove the bars from the oven and allow them to cool in the baking dish for 1 hour.
    • Once cooled, cut into bars and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
