31-year-old invites 89-year-old neighbor whose health deteriorated to move in with him
In an secluded care facility there was a woman, in her late eighties who was nearing the end of her life. However her path took a heartwarming turn when a hearted actor in his thirties reached out to help her. It’s worth mentioning that this young man had no family ties to her. Still bravely stepped forward to take on the responsibility of caring for her.
Back in 2013, when Chris Salvatore, the thirty one year actor moved into his home he quickly formed a bond with Norma Cook, an eighty five year old woman. Their connection began with a greeting. Blossomed into something profound. Chris dedicated himself to assisting Norma with tasks. Was always there for her whenever she needed support.
As time went on and Norma reached the age of eighty nine her health started deteriorating leading to hospitalization. In order for Norma to return home safely she required round the clock care. Sadly she had nobody to turn to for assistance making it seem unlikely that she could go home.
When Chris learned about Normas situation he made a decision to step in and help. He became the pillar of support, for Norma. Was determined not to let her down. Taking matters into his hands he set up a campaign that astonishingly raised $25,000 within just seven hours.
In the month the campaign managed to raise $50,000. However the costs of providing round the clock healthcare were quite significant prompting Chris to search for a long term solution.
“I couldn’t bear the idea of sending her to a facility ” he expressed to TODAY. “She’s, like my grandmother.”
That’s why Chris offered Norma a home inviting her to live with him. “I’m extremely happy that I could give her the chance to spend her days at home ” Chris shared. “Imagining someones moments in a hospital away from loved ones and pets is just unimaginable.”
Unfortunately Norma passed away in February 2017. She left this world knowing she was loved and well taken care of. Chris sorrowfully shared this news with his followers on Instagram, a platform where he regularly posted moments with his granny ” such as watching the news together having heartfelt conversations and sharing peanuts.
“Norma used to call me the grandson she never had ” Chris affectionately remembered.
Indeed Chris love and kindness knew no bounds. May blessings from above shower upon him for his dedication, to his neighbor.
