Fatay Recipe

Ingredients:

For the mass:
750 gr. Flour 0000
1 envelope of baking powder
1 cup of Oil
1/2 liter of lukewarm water
Salt to taste

For the filling:
3/4 kg. minced meat
2 medium onions
1 red chili
2 plump tomatoes
1 large lemon
2 tbsp. of salt
paprika to taste
cumin to taste
Garlic and parsley to taste

Directions:

We begin by preparing the filling, in a bowl we place the finely chopped onions, chili pepper, garlic and parsley, grate the tomato, removing the skin and squeeze the lemon.
Then in a container we place the minced meat, the lemon juice, the seasonings to taste and the chopped vegetables. Let it rest for approximately 40 minutes so that the flavors of all the ingredients take on.
Meanwhile we prepare the dough, in a bowl we place the flour, add the salt and the baking powder, mix all the ingredients well so that they are integrated. We also add the oil and shape the dough, gradually adding the lukewarm water and kneading until a ball is formed.
Finally, cover with a cloth and let it rest for a while.
When the resting time elapses, the balls are cut a little larger than the classic empanadas and we form the discs.
We are assembling each empanada adding a generous spoonful of the filling in the center of the covers, pressing a little and folding making 3 flaps that will form the triangle leaving a little hole free in the center.
We are placing them on a previously oiled oven tray, brush them with the egg yolk and cook them in a moderate oven until golden brown.
Finally ready to serve and enjoy!
