Creamed Chipped Beef On Toast

My husband loved it my 12 year old son declared it his “favorite meal” and we all wished I’d made more.

I LOVE Chipped Beef (we call it Chipped Beefy at our house, for whatever reason).

You will have more flavor if you tear up the beef into large bite size pieces, saute in the butter for a bit and then add the flour and milk.

What do you need to make Creamed Chipped Beef On Toast

  • ¼ cup unsalted butter
  • ¼ cup plain flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • salt, to taste
  • black pepper, to taste
  • 8 oz dried beef, sliced into strips
  • 8 slices toast

How to make Creamed Chipped Beef On Toast

FIRST STEP:

Place a skillet on medium heat and add the butter..

 

 

Once the butter has melted stir in the flour, mix continuously to form a thick roux.

SECOND STEP:

Gradually pour the milk into the skillet, bring to a simmer and stir until smooth.

Season the creamy sauce with salt and black pepper.

 

THIRD STEP:

Place the strips of dried beef into the skillet and warm through in the sauce for 2 minutes.

Serve the creamed chipped beef over toast or biscuits.
