Homemade PayDay Candy Bars

The idea of sweet combined with salty is heaven. However, I do not like spending money on candy bars each day. When I sat down to figure out what a PayDay candy bar had for ingredients, I realized that it would not be too difficult to replicate the sweet and salty candy treat so that I would have them at home.

With a handful of ingredients, a small amount of time, you can have your own treat at home whenever your sweet tooth starts yelling at you.

The good part, you could cover these bars with milk chocolate, dark chocolate or white chocolate.

This alone would give you a variety so that you do not get bored with just one type. I prefer to make a few of each and always keep them accessible.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Can I roast the peanuts before adding them to the baking dish?

Roasting the peanuts will give the treat a little more crunch which is very tasty.

I do not have the recommended size pan, can I use a 9×13?

You can, your bars will be slightly thinner than normal. You could double the recipe to fill the pan and make them as thick as a bar you buy uptown.

            How do I store these?

They should be placed in an airtight container, they can sit on the counter for up to one week before they start to harden too much to eat. It is not recommended to freeze these treats. They will not thaw properly to enjoy the taste.

Do I have to roast the peanuts?

Absolutely not! I personally like the additional crunch I get when I roast them.

Can I use different types of nuts?

You could try that. I have not done so myself. I prefer the peanuts and then the treat tastes just like a payday bar.
