Hula Huli Chicken in the Oven
Huli Huli Chicken is a Hawaiian dish that’s typically cooked on a grill, but it can also be adapted for the oven. Here’s a recipe to make Huli Huli Chicken in the oven:
Ingredients:
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
- 1 cup pineapple juice
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- Optional: Sliced green onions and sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions:
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the pineapple juice, soy sauce, brown sugar, ketchup, rice vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and sesame oil until well combined. This will be your marinade.
- Place the chicken breasts or thighs in a shallow dish or a large resealable plastic bag. Pour the marinade over the chicken, making sure it’s evenly coated. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, or preferably overnight, turning the chicken occasionally to ensure even marination.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Remove the chicken from the marinade and place it in a baking dish. Reserve the marinade for basting.
- Bake the chicken in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the chicken is cooked through, basting with the reserved marinade halfway through cooking.
- Once the chicken is cooked, remove it from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes.
- Garnish the Huli Huli Chicken with sliced green onions and sesame seeds, if desired, before serving.
- Serve the Huli Huli Chicken hot with rice or your favorite side dishes.
This oven-baked Huli Huli Chicken is flavorful, juicy, and perfect for a taste of Hawaii right in your own home. Enjoy!
