He was going through a number of divorces and his 40-year-old autistic daughter committed suicide.

The legendary songwriter, who was 94, passed away on Wednesday. Including Dusty Springfield’s I Just Don’t Know What to Do With Myself and Aretha Franklin’s I Say A Little Prayer, he was the composer of some of the most well-known love ballads ever.

Burt Bacharach wrote some of the greatest love songs of the last generation or so during the course of his composing career.
