Snicker Doodle Cookies

I make these all the time for my family. It’s my favorite recipe.

Yesterday I rolled them bigger than usual and they were so thick and soft in the middle. SO good!

No contest here…..this is the best snickerdoodle recipe.

I always roll them twice in the cinnamon/sugar mixture like you suggest, plus they are so soft and chewy.

Wanting to make a head of time and then bake for Christmas Eve.

Makes 3 Dozen

Prep Time – Start to Finish – 3 Hours- 3.5 hours (including time for dough to chill)

What do you need to make Snicker Doodle Cookies

1/2 cup unsalted butter softened

1 1/2 cup white sugar  (you will need one extra cup of sugar in a bowl to roll cookies in before baking)

1/2 cup shortening

2 egg

2 3/4cups all purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

2 teaspoon cream of tartar

1 cup of cinnamon chips


How to make Snicker Doodle Cookies

FIRST STEP:

Mix together softened butter, white sugar, shortening and egg until smooth

Combine flour, baking soda, salt and cream of tartar; mix well

Cover and chill for a minimum of 2 hours

SECOND STEP:

Preheat oven to 400, when the minimum of 2 hours is up and you are getting ready to bake

Place 1 cup of sugar and 1/2 cup of cinnamon mixed in a bowl and place to the side

Place parchment paper on cookie sheet

THIRD STEP:

Take dough out of the fridge and roll into walnut size balls.

Roll ball in white sugar-cinnamon mix

Place cookie ball on cookie sheet

Bake for 8-10 minutes.  Each oven will vary
